Whiskey Panna Cotta with Black Grapes Compote

I don’t have a sweet tooth but alcohol based desserts have always amused me. While rum, brandy or liqueurs are used in most desserts, I realized Whisky was not used that often.

Those who have tasted the drink will agree that it has a fantastic malt flavor that can go really well with desserts so I decided to make this for a group of friends who love alcohol based desserts too and did they love it? Absolutely.

Whiskey Pannacotta and Berry Compote

So here’s the recipe.

P.S. It can be great dessert along with Italian delicacies.


  • 200 ml Fresh Cream (I used Amul)
  • 1/3rd cup milk
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Gelatin (soaked in water)
  • 1/2 cup Whiskey (any brand will do!)
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla essence


  1. Boil the milk, sugar and cream.
  2. Let it cool slightly and add the whiskey (I used Signature) and vanilla essence.
  3. You can taste the cream at this stage and add more whiskey if you like can hold it!
  4. Then add the gelatin and whisk well.
  5. Set in moulds for 4-5 hours.

For the compote:

  • 250 grams black grapes
  • 1/2 cup juice (any flavor except mango)
  • 2 tbsp sugar


  1. Blend the grapes in the grinder slightly.
  2. Do not make an absolute puree.
  3. Mix with juice and sugar and simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Put in the freezer for an hour.
  5. Unmould the panna cotta. Serve the two together and NJOY!
