Umesh and I checked into the illustrious Courtyard by Marriott Chakan Pune and found an amazing experience awaiting us. I knew a little something about the place. A hotel with a superb swimming pool, 24-hour coffee shop, a fitness center and a deli (to name but a few of things inside) is hard to ignore. With its scintillating glass facades and high ceilings, the Courtyard by Marriott is a feast for the senses. Even the hilly green landscapes on one side surrounding it add to the overall beauty of this magnificent hotel. I was more than happy to be part of the magic.
I stayed here for Christmas Eve 2013, and it was a wonderful way to end the year and look forward to 2014. We enjoyed a little of everything, from the lavish Christmas eve buffet spread at Café Momo, which is the coffee shop I mentioned earlier, to the super yummy muffins, sandwiches, burgers and cup cakes served warm at Momo 2 Go Deli during breakfast the other day. Umesh and I were reeling with excitement and enjoyed every minute of our time.
So, why the extensive review, you ask? Why are you planning to bore us with all these details when you’ve already mentioned that the Courtyard by Marriott Chakan Pune is great, especially the 5-star buffet spread (which you just mentioned, by the way)?
Well, it’s so all those reading this post will appreciate the fact that hotels that can share genuine magic with its customers do still exist and coax you to just take some time off and visit the place for a small break to unwind. I personally experienced the enchantment. It started with Umesh and me sensing an imminent explosion of awesomeness when we entered the beautifully furnished lobby. They served us a cool and refreshing welcome drink whose tang got us in the mood for an unforgettable stay.
With about 175 deluxe and suite rooms in this place, we had plenty of choices. The superbly furnished rooms were a sight indeed, especially the soft-carpeted hallways outside enhancing the feel of it all. I spotted the LED television set (with all the channels you will love to find on it), a tea/coffee maker, an iPod docking station, and an amazing mini-bar. In addition to that, they had outstanding WIFI connectivity and a thoughtful open-out ironing board. Our room was very impressive, to say the least. The bathrooms came with the latest in amenities and luxuries and, pardon me for sounding droll, but they were one of the highlights of our stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Chakan Pune.
The staff was most courteous. They made us feel like royalty. To my eyes, everything screamed comfort, preparing us to savor the food soon to come our way. Or rather the food we were heading toward. I savored some of the best confectionery ever at the Momo 2 Go Deli. I learned they were the soulful creations of Sous Chefs Prakash Khetwal and Pastry Chef Jitender Upadhaya. From chocolate chip muffins and cookies to a whole host of national as well as international choices, Umesh and I found ourselves in a paradise worth getting lost in.
Hats off to Ms. Ritu Chawla (the GM) for her excellent supervising skills, keeping this place working in tiptop shape. I came to appreciate just how hard it can be to make running a hotel seem easy. She explained some salient points to us when we had the privilege of chatting with her.
Let me take this moment to tell you about the buffet breakfasts and lunches here at the Courtyard by Marriott Chakan Pune. They were feasts fit for visiting diplomats, so to speak. Sumptuous and scrumptious, the food served during this time is nothing short of spellbinding.
From dessert counters with their incredibly delicious spreads and to a fresh salad counter, Umesh and I partook and then moved on to the South Indian food counter. It was amazing, it was memorable and it was a day to enjoy and forget one’s worries. The sandwiches had their own special range: chicken and cheese, club, veg and toasted. Yes, we tried them all. It left us wanting more than we could humanly consume. Don’t judge, I love food.
We didn’t stay there long enough to give the fitness center an actual try. However, we did pass by it. It was located at the pool level and we learned that it offers both cardio as well as strength training exercises, something I was already doing in Lon. It’s nice to know Courtyard by Marriott Chakan is so forward thinking when it comes to fitness.
All in all, we had a lovely time, we ate the food of the gods and we made memories fit for dreams. I can’t wait to check into the Courtyard by Marriott Chakan Pune once more.
