eggless Choco Malt (Bournvita) fudgy brownies (gooey chocolate cake)

So I was going through a few recipes on the internet to make cakes/cup cakes with Bournvita or Choco Malt. I found one interesting recipe and the pics had what I would call the perfect texture for a cake. I decided to give it a try, followed the ingredients and instructions to the T. The batter was pretty runny and my experience says such batter never makes a good cake. I still went on.

The result – Gooey, chocolaty, fudgey and of course yummy cup cakes..Thank God, I didn’t use my experience and add some flour to make the batter thick.

Sorry I couldn’t take any pics as they vanished in just half an hour. Nevertheless, I thought you all will be interested in trying this quick and super easy recipe. Follow it exactly as is and you will not regret.

  • 2 heaped tbsp whole wheat flour/maida/APF
  • 3 tbsp Choco Malt/Bournvita
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 1/8 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt

  • Preheat the oven at 180C for 10 minutes.
  • Mix the milk and oil well.
  • Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl and add it to the milk and oil mixture.
  • Mix well. The resulting batter will be of pouring consistency.
  • Pour it in a small cake pan or 5 cup cake/muffin moulds.
  • Bake them for 15-20 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let them cool just a bit. The taste is heavenly when they are hot but cold ones taste great too. (If at all you manage to save any)

Important Notes:

The cupcakes may not rise too well or may sink once removed from the oven .That is perfectly fine.

The toothpick will not be absolutely clear as in regular cakes. However, it should not have too much of batter sticking to it.
