DIY Hair Masks with Ingredients From Your Pantry

When I woke up early today morning, I was in a mood to pamper myself. I thought of paying attention to my hair as it usually becomes dry in the winters. We had some beer leftover from last night. So instead of just pouring it like a conditioner, I decided to make a hair mask using it.

I was happy with the results after trying the hair mask for the first time, so here’s a post for all you lovely ladies and even men(who are obsessed about their hair). Most of the concocts work perfectly for all types of hair unless mentioned otherwise.

Unfortunately, I did not click any pictures of the mask I prepared so this will be a post without colorful images but it sure is super helpful.

Mask 1:

What you need:

  • 2 bananas
  • 3-4 tsp. curd
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 2-3 tsp. any oil (optional). If you have dry hair, coconut oil works best.

  • Grind the bananas to a smooth paste coz you don’t want any pieces stuck in your hair after you wash it. The riper the bananas the better it is for your mask. Now add the remaining ingredients and blend to a smooth paste like a thick banana shake.
  • Apply the mask on your scalp and hair and cover it to avoid dripping.
  • Leave for a minimum of half an hour.  If you have the time and are in a mood for deep conditioning, one hour is good time.
  • Wash thoroughly with a mild shampoo and BE READY for compliments.

Having trouble with weak, dull hair?

Mask 2:

What you need:

  • 2-3 tsp. any oil (coconut, almond, olive or a mixture of these)
  • 2 tsp. curd
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1 egg

  • Just mix all the ingredients well and apply properly in your hair.
  • You may add Vitamin E capsules in case you have them but I have heard most people suffer from boils on forehead due to them. I am one of those. So I prefer skipping the capsules.
  • As usual, leave it for 30 minutes minimum or 1 hour if you have the time.
  • The after effects are just MIND BLOWING!

Mask 3

What you need:

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. almond oil

  • Just mix all the ingredients well and massage lightly in the hair from root to tip.
  • Leave this one for 20 minutes and wash with a mild shampoo.
  • Regular usage will give long lasting effects.

Do you wish to add volume to your hair? Here’s the thickening mask.

Mask 4

What you need:

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup flat beer
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

  • Blend the banana and egg in a blender.
  • Add honey and beer and blend again. Beer works best for hair. Due to its protein content, it adds shine and strength to the hair. Pour some beer in your hair after a dip in the sea water and shampoo it. The results are MAGICAL.
  • For this mask, apply from root to ends and also on the scalp. It gives best results if kept for a few hours.

Mask 5:

What you need:

  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 avocado
  • 3 tsp. olive oil

  • Instead of making guacamole with your avocados, try this hair mask.
  • Mash the avocado and mix well with coconut milk and olive oil.
  • Now warm this mask in the microwave for 30 seconds and apply.
  • Let it stay for minimum 30 minutes to an hour and let me know the difference. Works best on all types of hair.

Mask 6:

What you need:

  • 3 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 banana (this is the magic ingredient)
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil

  • Make a smooth paste of the ingredients in a blender and apply on your hair.
  • Leave for 30 minutes and wash thoroughly.

Mask 7:

What you need:

  • 1 tbsp. almond oil
  • 1 banana

  • Simple. Just mix them into a smooth paste.
  • Apply this on wet hair from root to tip with a thicker layer on the tips.
  • Leave for 20 minutes and rinse. Works wonders for dry hair.

Mask 8:

What you need:

  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 4 tbsp. olive oil

  • Heat the olive oil in the microwave for 20 seconds. Stir in the honey
  • Apply on wet hair and leave for 20 minutes.
  • This is another great mask for dry hair and works great in winters for all types of hair.
